The single cells can be booked as FILM SET or PHOTO SHOOT locations. Overnight stays are not permitted. The former women's prison has approximately five available 8 m² single cells on the ground floor and two available 8 m² cells on the first and second floors. The walls are painted in various rough tones, with original chipping and the resulting patina. The individual cells are empty. If needed, a metal bed can be provided as a prop. The cell doors are wooden in appearance with black fittings. A prison-style window with a high sill and iron bars allows for natural daylight. For film and photo productions, spotlights and technical equipment are available and can be booked externally. All the cells are located in the courtyard area and can thus be combined with the overall motif of the prison and its corridors. Important: Wall painting is allowed in the cells, but not on windows, doors, or in the hallways due to heritage protection regulations.
The Knast is a unique cultural venue located in Lichterfelde, in the southern part of Berlin. Nestled within a residential neighborhood, the former women’s prison is situated in a tranquil, low-traffic area where parking spaces can be arranged for film crews. Depending on the size of the team, both outdoor spaces and indoor rooms are available for use. The Botanical Garden and Freie Universität Berlin are nearby. The local district court is within walking distance, and Kurfürstendamm is only 7 km away. The venue is well-connected to public transport via several S-Bahn lines and buses. IMPORTANT: Due to building regulations and the overall concept of the venue, the house is adults-only. This policy also applies to productions and events. The owners do not assume any liability.
